H.U. Environmental Research and Application Center (ERAC) was established on September 1, 1990. The members of Center have various backgrounds like environmental, civil, chemical, geological hydrogeological and minerals engineering, statistics, biology etc. The members also pursuing their academic activities at the Environmental Science Graduate Program which has started on 1993.

The Center mainly deals with inventory projects, environmental impacts assessment (EIA) studies and consultancy to industries and local administrations. If necessary, make coordination between different department of the University, different universities, governmental organizations, international organizations and private sector working on environment.

Main activities of the Center:

Determination of any kind of air, water and soil pollutants, evaluation of environmental data and making some recommendations for pollution prevention and sustainable development,

Preparing Environmental Impact Assessment Reports,

Development of new technologies on environmental sciences,

Performing projects to promote the application of environmental technologies especially in industry and in other fields,

Preparing environmental management strategies and plans for specific regions,

Giving consultancy services to industries and local administrations on environmental issues,

Making necessary coordination between governmental organizations, industries and universities in order to solve the environmental problems,

Education of people working in National Administrational levels,

Executing some seminars, congress, symposiums etc. to increase public participation in solution of environmental problems.
